They use their own proprietary material and formula which Is expensive.
Or my response to it…ġ) that article was about imported Mattress from China- years ago.Ģ) purple is made in the USA. It’s something entirely different! It’s not just foam!Īlso as I mentioned on your post about $18 dollars mattresses - apparently you didn’t even finish reading the article you linked. I’m not quite sure what you meant by this- the foam isn’t dyed purple in a purple mattress. So a center support is needed for the frame.
Once you put people on top it exerts a large load on the frame. Some of these mattresses weigh almost 200lbs alone.
Some manufacturers try to use metal spines, but according to a lot of fine print it will void your warranty theoretically. Granted it’s only on certain sized mattresses, like Kings but it happens. I’ve seen people buy ikea frames without center support beams. Some supports have to be in the middle of frame to support the middle of the mattress. Yes old school springs in the box- which according to purple (tempurpedic and others) will damage the mattress and void your warranty.Īnother one is a foundation with 5 -7 support points/ legs or more, varies by manufacturer and they change it, can’t remember purples exact requirement. The biggest issue I see is people using actual box spring foundations though- with all kinds of mattresses- not just purple. But summary is there is a slat spacing requirement as with other mattresses, some people miss this and just use their old foundation or purchase something cheap off Amazon without checking the spacing ( most just don’t realize things are different from when they last purchased a mattress). You can find the long and full explanation on purples website (lot to cover)….
